Hannah and Rich met while twisting and jiving at a Greek Life charity dance marathon at the University of North Florida. “We ended up dancing and talking for the full 18-hour event. After it ended, we walked out together, exchanged numbers and haven’t stopped talking from that point on,” says Hannah.
During the four years they dated Hannah would often mention the two of them taking a trip to Alaska. “I had been when I was younger, but wanted to return and experience it with him,” she says. Rich took the hint and one year for Christmas he gave her a bracelet with a cruise ship charm wrapped in a box inscribed with the words, “Alaska, June 5-13.”
“I was so excited. I had a feeling that this would be the trip where we got engaged,” recalls Hannah. But once they began exploring the untouched wilderness, the idea slipped her mind. “I was completely sidetracked from the breathtaking views. Rich suggested we take a selfie but insisted that I stand on a certain side. We took the picture and in the corner of my eye I saw something sparkle in the sun. The next thing I knew he was down on one knee holding my dream ring!”
The cake had three tiers—chocolate with ganache filling, vanilla with fresh strawberry filling and Andes mint with chocolate ganache filling.
While they weren’t on top of the cake, Mickey and Minnie bride and groom statues that Hannah had been holding onto since she was four were present at the reception.
“I surprised Rich with a groom’s cake at our rehearsal dinner. He has a boat that he considers his baby, and I wanted to have that be a part of our celebration,” says Hannah. “Classic Cakes did a fantastic job using photos of the boat to create the cutest replica! His reaction was priceless. He fell on his knees and couldn’t stop smiling and laughing.”
“Rich loves to dance, especially to Pitbull. When we requested Pitbull he split his pants dancing with his guys. It was hilarious.”
