Chasta Fletcher and Brett Moore went to high school together, but didn’t notice each other until one fateful spring day. “We were at a Jacksonville Suns game and ran into each other through mutual friends. It’s hard to explain but it’s as if when we saw each other that day, something clicked. For the first time, we saw each other in a different light,” Chasta recalls. “We soon realized that we were both moving to Valdosta that next semester for school. From that point on, we were inseparable.” Brett proposed eight years later on Fort George Island, and the couple planned an elegant wedding draped with flowers and blushing with romance. The Golf Club of Amelia was decorated with ferns, moss and garden roses. A gilded bird cage filled with mounds of fresh moss, lush cottage roses and flowering cherry branches greeted guests on entry. Vintage brass candle holders of all shapes and sizes lined banquet style tables covered in natural linen.
Brett had Chasta’s engagement ring custom made with the diamond from his late grandmother’s ring. • The bride had ten bridesmaids including two maids of honor. There were three flower girls. • “Forecast predicted 80 percent chance of rain and it remained beautiful and sunny the entire day. My phone was left and locked in the church during the rehearsal the day before, so I missed all the calls from the venue and band attempting to move the wedding inside. Without my approval there were no changes made—it was a blessing since it never rained!”
“The Yeti cooler cake was a no brainer—it was the perfect representation of the groom,” Chasta says. “Brett’s main hobby is deep sea fishing, however, he loves to be on the water period. It’s where we spend most of our free time together.” • There were six cakes in total for the 220 guests: key lime, chocolate, coconut, red velvet and vanilla with strawberry filling. • “We enjoyed our first dance and cut the cake under a 12-foot wooden pavilion built by my uncle. The same wooden pavilion is now located on our backyard patio where we can enjoy it daily.”
