Rachel & Dane

October 1, 2016

Rachel Swann and Dane Addison met in the elevator inside the EverBank Building Downtown. The two had the elevator to themselves for 24 floors and they talked the entire way down until Dane received a phone call. Two months later Rachel was invited to a beach party that happened to be at Dane’s house. He asked her to go out with him for dinner and for her number, but instead she told him that he could instant-message her. Dane didn’t like the idea but eventually he pinged her, asking to meet. She accepted. After two years of dating, Dane proposed. He’d had the ring for a few weeks but the timing was always off.“He kept trying to take me for a walk on the beach but it was either raining, or he was trying to squeeze it in before a Jags game and that just didn’t work,” says Rachel. He finally surprised her on a Tuesday after work at The Lodge in Ponte Vedra. He had his uncle, a professional photographer, hide to capture the moment. His parents were also there, hiding in the window with the serving staff waiting for it to happen.

The couple arrived in an old-fashioned Rolls-Royce to add to the vintage, romantic theme. • Rachel’s mom did the calligraphy for the display chalkboards and wedding invitations. • Dane wanted a tuxedo different from the classic style, but in the end he realized a traditional suit better fit the wedding theme.

According to Rachel, Dane didn’t do much planning for the wedding but he acted as a good sounding board when she needed another opinion. However, he did learn the wedding dance choreography beforehand. • Dane wanted an extravagant exit from the venue. Sadly, it ended up not being possible so the two settled for an SUV limo ride instead.
