Liane and Delza both worked for a small company that happened to be owned by Liane’s father. The two met at work but had to keep their relationship a secret for a while. “That just made it even more fun,” says Liane. The two both share a passion for the outdoors, with camping, sports and anything involving water and sunshine being their favorites. After four years of dating, it was only fitting that the proposal incorporate the things they love. “It was a Friday night and we had plans to meet Delza’s brother and girlfriend at the beach for dinner,” Liane recalls. “When we arrived he wanted to join his brother on the beach. As we walked up, his brother had written ‘Will you marry me?’ in the sand. I turned around and Delza was on one knee.”
“The AC unit went out in our hotel room,” says Liane. “It was in the middle of June, so it got hot fast!” The hotel engineer attempted to fix the air three times until finally they opted for an industrial-sized fan. “Needless to say, [the bridesmaids’] robes were blowing in the wind.” • During the ceremony, Liane’s high heels sank into the ground as she was saying her vows. Not only did she have to concentrate on them but she also had to make sure she kept her balance.
University of Florida Gator fans were almost banned from the wedding because of Delza’s dedication to Florida State University Seminoles. • “There were so many favorite moments,” says Liane. “The first look was very emotional and sweet. Dancing with my dad was also hilarious, we surprised our guests and shook things up a bit.”
