Kendall & Tommy

November 5, 2016

Kendall Taylor and Tommy Isaacs grew up approximately three miles away from each other in Ponte Vedra Beach. But they didn’t meet until they were both living in New York City. Coincidentally, a mutual friend was visiting NYC and Kendall and Tommy ended up at the same bar. The two hit it off and started dating almost immediately. Tommy was promoted at his job and had to relocate to Florida. Kendall followed shortly thereafter because she was over enduring the Northern winters. After dating for more than a year, Tommy proposed. One morning, Tommy told Kendall that he wanted to take his parents’ boat out on the water. Kendall didn’t suspect anything because the two typically spent weekends this way. They anchored the boat at one of Tommy’s favorite fishing spots on the Intracoastal Waterway near St. Augustine. The two snapped a few silly pics and then Tommy said that he had one more photo idea. He then dropped down onto one knee with a big smile on his face. Kendall was in complete shock and almost fell backwards off the boat. The couple soon returned to shore and was met by an engagement party hosted by family and friends. Kendall says she was caught completely off guard that weekend but was thankful that Tommy made sure she was wearing appropriate attire for the proposal. “His mother made sure my nails were done the day before and called Tommy to let him know that ‘Operation Proposal Nails’ was complete,” she recalls.

A string quartet played during the ceremony, mixing it up between traditional and modern song choices. • “I have only seen my dad cry one time, and the minute he turned around [during our first look] the tears started flooding,” says Kendall. “I started crying as well and remembering thinking I better try to stop the tears before I have to get my makeup redone.”

Since many of the guests were from out of town, the couple wanted to incorporate eats from some of their favorite places in the city. • “If I had to pick [a favorite moment] it would be having all of our friends and family in the same place,” says Tommy. “It was really special to see how many people traveled near and far to celebrate with us.”
