While their families had been close friends for years, romance didn’t strike Haley and Sina until they bumped into each other at the Nowruz Commission Gala in Washington, D.C., where they were celebrating the Persian New Year. They knew they wanted to spend more time together, but had to go their separate ways as they each had vacations planned. However, as soon as they both landed back home, they set up their first official date.

A few months later the couple was spending a leisurely day with their new puppy, Lulu. “We had taken her for a walk on the beach and she was wet and sandy from playing,” says Haley. “After giving her a bath, we wrapped her in a pair of Sina’s sweatpants and were watching a movie on the couch. When Lulu woke up, she crawled out of the sweatpants and the ring was on her collar. I thought it was a charm for Lulu!”

The actual moment had come as a surprise, but the week before Sina took Haley’s father out to dinner and she had become suspicious. Even though they had only been dating for four months, Haley says, “When you know, you know.”

“The bridesmaids were not given a specific dress, just the guidelines that they needed to be black-tie and a shade of blue,” says Haley. “Each of my bridesmaids have very different styles, yet all have impeccable taste. They also live in different cities across the country and world. If I were asking them to travel to Capri for my wedding, I wanted them to love what they were wearing.”

“One member of the bridal party may have forgotten the slip for her dress. It was from a runway collection and completely unlined,” laughs Haley. “One of my dear bridesmaids sent her boyfriend to the lingerie store outside the hotel at 6:15 PM. The wedding started at 6:30 PM.”

“I think the most meaningful thing to us was the amount of love and support we felt by those who had traveled via literally every mode of transportation to be with us,” says Haley. “We had guests at our wedding from 31 different cities and countries who had flown, driven, taken trains and ferries, gotten passports and visas to make it to our wedding. Our hearts are forever warm.”
