Having perfect pearly whites on any day that involves lots of photography is important, but especially when white may be the color scheme throughout the day. Dr. John Lazzara of Lazzara Orthodontics recommends brides-to-be consult with an orthodontist to make sure her smile is bright and aligned.
“Of course, everyone should see the dentist twice per year for regular cleanings and exams,” he says. “I strongly encourage brides-to-be to complete any recommended dental treatment (fillings, etc.) well in advance of the big day, to prevent an unwanted dental emergency.”
For teeth that need alignment, he recommends taking action six months to a year before the big day. “I have seen a number of cases over the years where brides-to-be came in upset after a test shoot with their wedding photographer where a minor problem with the position of a front tooth was exposed.”
Also consider avoiding any strongly pigmented food or drink that may stain the teeth. Wouldn’t want to ruin the best accessory: your smile.
