While uplighting isn’t a new trend, it’s sure to be a lasting one. Using this method of illuminating reduces heat output, helps boost the décor’s visibility and makes for a great backdrop in photography when done correctly. “[Decorative] lighting adds to the overall atmosphere and makes an ordinary setting seem a lot more high-end,” says Britney Schnorr, general manager at Luxe Party Rentals. Uplighting is also customizable. One can choose to match the lighting to the setting such as blue tones for a beach-themed wedding. But Schnorr recommends leaning more toward softer hues. “Don’t underestimate the power of a soft white uplight,” she says. “It can really add a nice classic touch.”
