For some, planning a wedding without the company of man’s best friend is inconceivable. One’s pet can make an unforgettable addition to their big day. “I’ve had my dachshund, Jillian, since I was 19 years old,” says Jax native Ally Frank who married Brian Frank in April of 2014. “She is like my child, so we put her in a dress and made her my flower girl.” For the bride and groom, the ceremony went flawlessly with an accommodating venue site, a little help from Mom who doggie-sat during the nuptial exchange and a pooch-friendly photographer. “Our wedding photos would have been incomplete without Jillian, and it really takes some research to find a photographer who can capture all the emotion of the day, including our dog’s,” says Ally. Planning a wedding is a daunting task in itself, but if adding a little more to the to-do list suits the wedding party, suiting up a nontraditional flower girl (or ring bearer) may bring an extra element of joy to the celebration.
